Guide to Adventure Travel

Get in shape

Before you leave home & not while travelling. Be realistic about your abilities. Occasional weekend biking or occasional hiking may not be enough to prepare you well for traveling many miles each day.

Take only what is strictly necessary

Depending on the activity you plan to do, you may need to bring specialized equipment. Remember that you will potentially have to lug it around with you.

How much money to take with you on the trip?
In the middle of the jungle there are no ATM's and in the desert they probably don't accept credit cards. Take enough cash for the days when you will be more isolated, consider the cost of living of where you are going and work out how much cash you need so that you have enough left over. case of emergency. Change money well in advance and check your bank's conditions for withdrawing money from foreign ATMs.

Find out about the climate
Beyond the choice of destination as such, the choice of dates is also important. Some destinations have two main seasons, the monsoon and the dry season. Discovering a country in one or the other will not be the same experience at all.

Choose your travel partners wisely
Going alone or accompanied changes the dynamics of the trip, the second type of project requiring an additional step in the preparation of the trip: choose your companions wISELY! Better to go alone than in bad company… G
oing with one or more people also requires more thought: that everyone knows what they expect from this trip and communicates it to others in order to avoid unpleasant surprises. I will share & translate another article from a fellow French blogger who made a funny list about the worst type of travel partner.
